Silver raw vermiculite has excellent properties such as heat insulation, frost resistance, antibacterial, fire prevention, water absorption, sound absorption, etc. When calcinated at 800-1000°C for 0.5-1.0 minutes, the volume can rapidly increase by 8-15 times, up to 30 times. After expansion, the specific gravity is 50-200kg/m3, and the color becomes silvery white, forming loose silver expanded vermiculite.
Silver expanded vermiculite is widely used in construction, metallurgy, chemical industry, light industry, machinery, electric power, petroleum, environmental protection and transportation. It is mainly used in construction, insulation, filling, agriculture and gardening for international trading.
In agriculture and horticulture, as well as for vegetable gardens, silver expanded vermiculite is mainly used as soil improver and feed additive. Because of its good cation exchange and adsorption properties, it can improve the structure of the soil, store water and moisture, improve the air permeability and water content of the soil, and turn the acidic soil into a neutral soil; Expanded vermiculite can also act as a buffer, hindering the rapid change of PH value, allowing the fertilizer to be released slowly in the crop growth medium, and allowing a slightly excessive use of fertilizer without harm to the plant; Expanded vermiculite can also provide the crop with its own K , Mg, Ca, Fe and trace amounts of Mn, Cu, Zn and other elements. The water absorption, cation exchange and chemical composition characteristics of expanded vermiculite make it play multiple functions such as fertilizer retention, water retention, water storage, ventilation and mineral fertilizer. Tests show that adding 0.5-1% expanded vermiculite to compound fertilizer can increase crop yield by 15-20%.
In the industrial sector, expanded vermiculite is used as packaging material shock-absorbing and absorbent for corrosive and highly flammable chemicals absorbent for spilled liquids.
