There are many types of perlite, including perlite, obsidian and turpentine. The difference between them is that perlite has arc-shaped cracks formed by condensation, which is called perlite structure and has a water content of 2% to 6%. Turpentine has a unique turpentine luster with water content about 6~10%; obsidian has glass luster and shell-like fracture, its water content is generally less than 2%.
Raw perlite can be used as filler in pigments, paints, rubber and plastic products, inks, synthetic glass, heat-insulating bakelite and some mechanical components and equipment after fine grinding and ultra-fine grinding. Perlite is expanded to become a lightweight, versatile new material. It has the characteristics of low thermal conductivity, low moisture absorption capacity, good chemical stability, odorless, fireproof, non-toxic, sound-absorbing, etc. Perlite is widely used in various industrial sectors.
Perlite ore with a certain size and particle size can be made into a slag remover (covering agent) after special processing. It is sprinkled on the surface of steel (iron) water just out of the furnace, and the volume expands rapidly by 4-30 times. It has slag removal, heat preservation, etc. The feature is the commonly known slag remover, which has successfully replaced the foundry industry which has been using straw ash or asbestos ash as molten iron covering as slag removal and heat preservation materials. It has opened up a new application field of perlite in the production of iron and steel casting.
Perlite has good thermal insulation performance; good slag collection performance, which is convenient for slag removal and beneficial for molten iron purification; helps to stabilize spheroidization and improve spheroidization effect; reduces environmental pollution; improves soil air permeability; retains water and warm keeping for soil; lightens the weight of soil.
Expanded perlite is a kind of white granular material with a honeycomb structure inside, which is made of perlite ore after preheating and instantaneous high-temperature roasting and expansion. The principle is: perlite ore is crushed to form ore sand of a certain size, preheated and roasted, heated rapidly (above 1000 ℃), the water in the ore is vaporized, and expands inside the softened glassy ore to form a porous structure and volume expansion 10-30 times that of non-metallic minerals.
We provide expanded perlite with different sizes as you require. The sizes we supply for expanded perlite is commonly 1-3mm, 2-4mm, 3-6mm and 4-8mm We supply the perlite product with comprehensive sizes, excellent quality and competitive price, and hope to become your trusted collaborator!
