Product Details

Magnesium sulfate is a chemical compound, a salt with the formula MgSO4, consisting of magnesium cations Mg2+ (20.19% by mass) and sulfate anions SO42-. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in water but not in ethanol. Magnesium sulfate is widely used in agriculture, industry, medicine etc. In gardening, it is mainly used to supplement magnesium for growing flowers. It is especially excellent for ensuring the growth of plant roots, improving plant resistance to diseases and insect pests, and promoting nutrient absorption.
Agricultural magnesium sulfate can increase the yield of fruit trees, rubber trees, tobacco leaves, beans, potatoes, corn, wheat and cereal crops by 15-50%. As a fertilizer, magnesium sulfate can be directly used as base fertilizer, top dressing and foliar fertilizer, and can be used alone or mixed as one of the ingredients, which can be used in traditional agriculture, high value-added agriculture, flowers and soilless cultivation.
In agriculture and horticulture, magnesium sulfate is used to amend soils deficient in magnesium (magnesium is an essential element of the chlorophyll molecule), most commonly used in potted plants, or in magnesium-containing crops such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, peppers and cannabis. The advantage of applying magnesium sulfate over other magnesium sulfate soil amendments such as dolomitic lime is its high solubility, which also allows the option of foliar feeding. Solutions of magnesium sulfate are also nearly pH neutral, compared with the slightly alkaline salts of magnesium as found in limestone; therefore, the use of magnesium sulfate as a magnesium source for soil does not significantly change the soil pH. Contrary to the popular belief that magnesium sulfate is able to control pests and slugs, helps seeds germination, produce more flowers, improve nutrient uptake, and is environmentally friendly, it does none of the purported claims except for correcting magnesium deficiency in soils. Magnesium sulfate can even pollute water if used in excessive amounts.
